Jobs for March and April
- Hoe the ground to get rid of any weeds.
- Put in straw on paths to reduce the bogginess caused by rain.
- Potatoes that you are chitting (allowing to sprout) should be going in the ground unless it is very cold. If so, hold back until it warms up a bit.
- Aubergines and tomatoes can be started on a window sill at home.
- Make successional sowings of japanese bunching onions, radishes, kohlrabi, early carrots and salad leaves.
- Sow Butternut squashes under glass.
- Finish pruning your soft fruits, apples and pears.
