The Energy Saving Trust has published a guide showing how people can reduce their carbon emissions by 3 per cent a year and help to prevent climate change.
Things they recommend people do to reduce their carbon emissions are:
- Turning heating down by 1 degree Celsius
- Avoiding leaving appliances such as TVs on standby
- Washing their clothes at 30 degrees Celsius
- Switching off lights in rooms that are not occupied
- Installing 100mm of insulation in lofts
- Insulating external solid and cavity walls
- Installing double or secondary glazing in windows and doors
- Install energy efficient lightbulbs
- Replacing inefficient boilers
- Buy energy efficient electrical equipment
- Reduce car journeys and drive in energy efficient ways
- Avoid wasting food
It also shows the measures the Energy Saving Trust would like the Welsh Assembly and the UK Government to take to help save energy.
