No to Nuclear

The Government believes that nuclear energy production is a solution to Climate Change. This is a seriously misguided approach.

Nuclear is not the solution to climate chaos and the government needs to start making responsible decisions instead of being led by nuclear lobbyists. Britain already has 2.3 million cubic metres of nuclear waste stored around the country and no safe long-term solution has been found.

The processes of mining, milling, processing and enriching uranium are all very carbon intensive and as the supplies of uranium run out (latest estimates are about 50 years) the extra refining needed because of lower quality uranium will bring carbon production up to the same level as gas powered stations.

To cut carbon emissions in the UK we need instead to be more energy efficient and produce more renewable energy.
