Incinerator - Please Take Action!

The Environment Agency has announced that it is 'minded' to give the go-ahead to a massive, polluting and wasteful incinerator at Ocean Park in Cardiff. However it is not too late to change their minds.

Please Take Action:

  • Public Drop in Session: Friday 30th July, 2pm-7pm in the Star Leisure Centre, Splott Road

If you live in Splott, Butetown, Adamsdown or anywhere else in Cardiff, please go to this session and raise your concerns with them.

Environment Agency public meeting on incinerator

In a shock move, the council have granted planning permission to Viridor's second application for an incinerator in Splott. This is in spite of the fact that the new application is almost identical to the first application which was denied by the council. This was an unwelcome surprise as Cardiff Friends of the Earth had phoned the council prior to the planning meeting and been told that Viridor's application would not be heard; not only was it then heard, but also granted.

Prosiect Gwyrdd Roadshow - 27 February 2010

The second Prosiect Gwyrdd Roadshow is in Cardiff on Saturday between 10am and 4pm.

Viridor are bidding for this waste contract so they can fund the Cardiff Incinerator - the contract being awarded to another company means no incinerator. If you go along you can help influence the criteria they use when awarding the contract.

Please go along and make your views know. Points to make are on the Cardiff Friends of the Earth website.

Thank you for doing this.
