The palm oil industry has a devastating impact on wildlife and communities in South East Asia. Over 100 UK companies are involved in buying and selling palm oil products. The vast majority of these are doing nothing to ensure they do not buy palm oil from destructive sources.

Demand for palm oil, a vegetable oil, is the most significant cause of rainforest loss in Malaysia and Indonesia.

Palm oil is found in 1 in 10 supermarket products. These include:

  • chocolate
  • bread
  • crisps
  • detergents and
  • lipsticks.
