New figures from the Waste and Resources Action Programme (Wrap) show a big improvement in the amount of food waste, but households are still throwing out £12 billion a year of usable food.

Campaigners from Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil and Newport protested today at the National Assembly of Wales today against Welsh Government sponsored incineration schemes. This comes against a background of council incompetence and incinerator bids collapsing.

Waste collection arrangements for all households in Cardiff will change on 12 September 2011. The collection day will also change for many people.

Instead of sending waste to landfill or for incineration we should recycle or compost it.
