Cardiff Friends of the Earth gave evidence at the joint environmental and economic scrutiny
committee meeting on the 20th October 2008 on the future plans of St Mary's Street.

We support the full pedestrianisation of the street from the castle junction down to the
junction with Wood Street. This would greatly improve the environment and reduce pollution in the city centre.

Cardiff Airport Expansion

The Cardiff International Airport Masterplan outlines how it could grow over the upcoming years.

“Air travel is the world's fastest growing source of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, which cause climate change.” That’s the verdict from Airportwatch, along with huge numbers of environmental groups and research bodies.

A cycling protest took place across the Cogan Spur on 22 April 2007 to highlight the need for the construction of a cycle and pedestrian bridge over the River Ely between Penarth and Grangetown.

Sustrans has won £50 million of funding from the Big Lottery Fund for the Connect2 project to invest in walking and cycling UK-wide. This includes the 140 meter Ely River Bridge, Pont Y Werin. This
