Four members of Friends of the Earth went to 10 Downing Street on Monday to deliver our Final Demand petition. It had tens of thousands of names on it.

The uncertainty over the future of the UK's solar feed-in tariff (FIT) scheme continues, after three court of appeal judges failed to decide if the government's proposed changes were unlawful.

The government has raised the spending cap feed-in tariff (FIT) scheme by nearly £200m to prevent the scheme exceeding its budget. It has done this by re-allocating funds previously earmarked for the Renewables Obligation (RO) scheme.

The government today filed a request to the Court of Appeal against a High Court ruling on 21 December that its plans to rush through cuts to solar feed-in tariffs (FIT) were unlawful.

Almost 20,000 people so far have signed the Final Demand petition asking for a public inquiry into the Big Six energy companies. More paper petitions are coming in every day and the number of signatures continues to grow.

The High Court has upheld a legal challenge from Friends of the Earth and two solar electricity firms, Solar Century and HomeSun, against the government's decision to slash feed-in tariff incentives for solar installations.

Facebook has pledged to work with Greenpeace to source more renewable energy to power its giant data centres.

The social networking company announced yesterday that it will work with Greenpeace to increase the energy efficiency of its IT infrastructure, switch from coal to renewable energy where possible, and promote clean energy to its millions of users.
