FoE Cardiff update

Just a quick note to let you know about a couple of exciting things going on:

Feed Cardiff -

On Saturday 9th October, Cardiff Food Alliance (a partnership between ourselves and the Cardiff Transition Project) will be offering shoppers in Cardiff City Centre a free, freshly cooked meal and some food for thought about making farming more sustainable.

The event is being organised to help promote FoE's "Fix the Food Chain" campaign for a sustainable livestock bill and to raise awareness of the huge amounts of food wasted every day by our broken food chain.

Come along to Working Street outside the Queens Arcade between 11 am and 3 pm for a plate of delicious free food.

Join the Big Climate Connection

The Big Climate Connection is an exciting grassroots campaign, aiming to get communities to lobby their MP in their own constituency. The Stop Climate Chaos Coalition is calling for people across the UK to sign up to this on or around 5th-6th November.

Find out who in your area is already registered and get in touch with one of the four Cardiff constituency coordinators. We hope to arrange a meeting soon to share ideas and to boost people's confidence.

Together, we can really influence some big issues.

Incinerator update -

The Cardiff Against the Incinerator coalition, of which Cardiff Friends of the Earth is a part, are attacking Viridor's proposed incinerator in Splott from all angles. The pressure is starting to show; the Environment Agency has delayed its final decision on whether to grant an Environmental Permit for the incinerator pending further investigations into the possible health impacts.

Cardiff Against the Incinerator will hold a demonstration on Tuesday 12 October. People are to gather at 10.30am on the steps of the National Assembly Building in Cardiff Bay. The demonstration will be between 11am and 1pm.

Please come to the demonstation, sign the E-petition and help to keep the pressure on.
