Friends of the Earth Cardiff - energy hydroelectricity Radyr Whitchurch en Visit to Radyr Weir hydroelectric scheme <p><img src="/files/foecardiff/images/Radyr-Weir-hydroelectric-scheme-visit1.jpg" alt="John and Chris standing in front of the turbines at Radyr Weir" width="500" height="375" /></p> <p>Photo: Alex Powell, Cardiff Friends of the Earth</p> <p>On Sunday members of the group went on a cycle ride to visit the new hydroelectric scheme on the River Taff at Radyr Weir.</p> <p>Cardiff County council have installed two Archimedean Screw generators at the weir that can produce a maximum of 391kW, enough electricity to power 550 homes.
